Plastid-associated galactolipid composition in eyespot-containing dinoflagellates: a review

چکیده
Relative to the large number of photosynthetic dinoflagellate species, only a select few possess proteinaceous, carotenoid-rich eyespots which have been demonstrated in other algae act phototactic responses. The proteins comprising different categories are positioned or near peridinin-containing plastid membranes composed primarily two galactolipids, mono- and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG DGDG). Within eyespot-containing dinoflagellates, this arrangement occurs mostly those with secondary plastids, although some dinoflagellates tertiary plastids diatom origin known eyespots. We here provide an examination MGDG DGDG composition secondary, address fundamental question whether their component carotenoids associated alterations galactolipid when compared eyespot-lacking dinoflagellates. This is important because eyespot-plastid membrane system can be considered more complicated evolved state development. Included data on previously unexamined peridinin- type A Margalefidinium polykrikoides, D eyespot-containing, aberrant â??dinotomâ? Durinskia baltica. In addition, we reviewed from Chlorophyceae, Cryptophyceae, Euglenophyceae as comparison determine if algal classes apart Dinophyceae contain altered galactolipids association conclude that presence eyespot not noticeable changes composition. Endosymbiotic gene transfer in tertiary plastid-containing dinoflagellates.
Plastid establishment involves the transfer of endosymbiotic genes to the host nucleus, a process known as endosymbiotic gene transfer (EGT). Large amounts of EGT have been shown in several photosynthetic lineages but also in present-day plastid-lacking organisms, supporting the notion that endosymbiotic genes leave a substantial genetic footprint in the host nucleus. Yet the extent of this gen...
متن کاملPlastid ultrastructure defines the protein import pathway in dinoflagellates.
Eukaryotic cells contain a variety of different compartments that are distinguished by their own particular function and characteristic set of proteins. Protein targeting mechanisms to organelles have an additional layer of complexity in algae, where plastids may be surrounded by three or four membranes instead of two as in higher plants. The mechanism of protein import into dinoflagellates pla...
متن کاملNeurotoxins from Marine Dinoflagellates: A Brief Review
Dinoflagellates are not only important marine primary producers and grazers, but also the major causative agents of harmful algal blooms. It has been reported that many dinoflagellate species can produce various natural toxins. These toxins can be extremely toxic and many of them are effective at far lower dosages than conventional chemical agents. Consumption of seafood contaminated by algal t...

The fatty acid composition of the major lipids of the chloroplast membranes, the mono- and digalactosyl diglycerides, can be definably altered with various substituted pyridazinones. Galactolipid fatty acid composition of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) can be altered so that there is a decrease in linolenic acid accompanied by an increase in linoleic acid without a shift in the relative proportio...
متن کاملGenome Fragmentation Is Not Confined to the Peridinin Plastid in Dinoflagellates
When plastids are transferred between eukaryote lineages through series of endosymbiosis, their environment changes dramatically. Comparison of dinoflagellate plastids that originated from different algal groups has revealed convergent evolution, suggesting that the host environment mainly influences the evolution of the newly acquired organelle. Recently the genome from the anomalously pigment...
